Dave and Lil began praying for God to raise up a gospel-centered church in the Natick area years ago. When church planters began to look at the Boston Metrowest area as an opportunity to plant a new church, Dave and Lil were right there, eager to be part of what God was doing. From the very first meeting of Milestone, through the first service at the Cole Center in Natick, to our current location, they have been a part of Milestone. Through that time they have been ministry volunteers for Cru High School in Natick, a significant ministry to not only Milestone youth, but to youth from other churches and towns in Metrowest.
You may have seen Dave helping as an usher, or Lil welcome people on Sunday mornings from the front of the church. Dave has preached at Milestone on a few occasions, and is now part of our Milestone preaching team. Dave and Lil have been married for 27 years and have 3 grown, Christ following children (David,Danielle and Ben). They met when Dave was an undergrad at UMass Amherst, and Lil was serving on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. After they were married, Dave completed a Master’s degree at Gordon Conwell Seminary and has put that to use in church ministry through teaching, preaching and other servant leadership roles. Dave has been working at Teradyne, Inc. for nearly 27 years, and is currently an Engineering Manager in New Product Development. Lil, after finishing a season homeschooling their 3 kids, began working at Veritas Christian Academy as a 4 th grade teacher, where she’s been for the past 8 years. In their free time they love to travel to see their kids, kayak, camp, and hike.
Over the last 9 months, Dave has spent time with our current Elders walking through the qualifications and expectations of an Elder. The qualifications for Elders at Milestone can be found listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. In addition to the minimum qualifications given in Scripture, Elders must be members who fully subscribe to our Church’s Articles of Faith and are actively involved in the ministry of the Church.
After 9 months of prayer, discipleship, and building a relationship with Dave and his family, the Elders at Milestone are presenting Dave to our members to be affirmed as our next Elder. If affirmed, Dave will continue to work at Teradyne and serve as a lay Elder. Although Dave will not be employed by Milestone, it does not make him any less of an Elder than those who are employed by the church. He will hold the same authority as other Elders and be involved in all the future decision-making of the church.
